I’m not a big fan of April Fool’s Day. Sure, there are lots of funny fake ads and I love those. But sometimes, pranks aren’t so funny. If you have anything planned try not to hurt or humiliate anyone just for a laugh. Because that’s not funny.

Okay, on to photography.

I took this photo in North Carolina while I was out testing a new camera. The photo has a timeless quality so I felt the sepia tint was appropriate.

I’m going to start making pinhole photos using my phone, sort of. Pinhole is a slow process that makes photos with a dreamy quality, but you need the right app and a tripod. I already have the app, and the attachment that lets me mount my phone to the tripod is on order. For technical reasons they will not be real pinholes, but it’s as close as I can get without going back to film and using an actual pinhole camera. Anyway, I plan to have fun with it.

The subject of today’s photo is an historic bank building in Norfolk, Virginia. I used a fisheye attachment on my iPhone for the distortion it provided. This is in sepia because it looks far too harsh and modern in black and white.

My biggest project right now, besides this site, is that I’m downsizing. I’ve been in my townhouse for 27 years, and you’d be surprised how much stuff you collect in that length of time. Since I don’t need this much space, I’m thinking about selling and getting an apartment. I have the place picked out, but the time isn’t ripe.

Today’s photo was taken with an iPhone 4S. I shot it while leading a photo walk in downtown Norfolk, Virginia a few years ago. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time. If you ever get a chance to do a photo walk, do it. You’ll enjoy it and you can learn a lot from the other photographers.
