An unknown Jackson Pollack, or a trip through the car wash? You decide.
The original image was underwhelming, but the processing was straightforward. I converted the image to black and white, then played around with the highlights and shadows until I was happy with the range of tones. The processing was simple. The hard part was seeing the finished photo in my mind’s eye, and knowing how to realize the desired result.

This is the vending area in a building where I used to work. The building dates to 1918, which explains the tile floor, electrical conduits on the walls, and shabby condition of the room. Processing was straightforward: I converted the image to black and white, a vast improvement over the dirty, pale-yellow walls, then boosted the contrast a little to bring out the full range of tones.
