I think the best photos are unplanned. My favorites are those where something catches my eye that I think is interesting, and I photograph it.

Today’s photo is of my bedroom window, taken during the summer. I love how the shadows softly curve with the linen fabric. The processing is simple, enhancing the simple quality of the image. I did not plan the photo; I just noticed the shadows on the drapes and went for it.

I see photos everywhere I go. This photo was taken during a computer user group meeting. Again, something caught my eye, and I had my phone with me, so I shot it.

In this case I was at a restaurant, playing with my phone, and the bubbles in my glass looked interesting. During processing I deepened the color of my drink a little and increased the contrast a bit. That was all the original image needed. I try to keep my processing simple. I don’t like it when someone tortures an image just to make something dull look like it isn’t.

Since I just recently started taking pictures again, I don’t have much new work. In the meantime, I’m pulling work from my library to post.

Today’s photo was shot with my iPhone using a fisheye lens attachment. The building is the old U.S. Customs House in Norfolk, Virginia, completed in 1858. I had fun with the processing, adding a little texture and a slight vignette to make it look a bit spooky.
